Dear Santa

Letter to the North

Ink bleeds across December's white page,
each word a wish wrapped in childhood's tongue.
The lamplight flickers—I am any age,
believing still in what cannot be sung.
Dear Santa, I begin, then pause to think
what honest want survives the asking price,
what longing doesn't drown in reason'sink,
what gift redeems the year's small sacrifice.
I sign my name in cursive, fold it twice,
and mail my heart into the winter night.Retry
